The fourth Alan Howard JOICO Select Accounts Conference took place recently at the original spire Yorkshire Penny Bank in Leeds – a very apt venue as the theme for the day was “look after the pennies and the pounds will look after you”.
Host, Business Coach John Huscroft welcomed the 200 strong audience to Leeds and spoke about how important it was to work on your business and develop the skills needed to run a profitable business. John introduced MD of Alan Howard, Jonathan Littler, who shared with the audience their vision for the select accounts –‘to help the JOICO Select Accounts to grow their business with the help of the team through creative and business education along with the support of their team.’ Jonathan continued by saying their vision for the JOICO Select Accounts mirrors that of Alan Howard – have a Vision, Plan, Enjoy What You Do and Work Hard.
When Jonathan left the stage, JOICO Select Account Manager, Laura Ackers came on stage to share with the audience how they can learn simple time management skills to help them run a more efficient and effective business. Laura also stressed the importance of knowing your figures, your breakeven, set deadlines for yourself and when a curved ball is thrown at you, stop – re-assess and move on.
Next on stage was JOICO’s Business Development Manager, Vicky Brown, who presented a review of 2019 and gave the audience a preview of what to expect from JOICO in 2020 in the way of new product launches, education and events.
After the break Alison Jameson from AJC93, was introduced to the audience, where she presented a new approach to looking at your social media along with the tools to do so. Alison also spoke about two key marketing buzz words for 2020, ‘personalisation’ and ‘transparency’ and gave the audience examples of how they could introduce this commercially into their salons.
John Huscroft took to the stage once more and continued the day’s theme of planning and preparation to create a greater profit for your business by establishing a calendar for the year and setting yourself goals and targets. To get everyone motivated after lunch, everyone took part in a quick fire quiz, which showed just how competitive hairdressers are! Returning to stage once more, John Introduced Bruno Marc Giametti from the Marc Antoni Group.
Bruno is the JOICO Ambassador for UK, Europe and Ireland and gave the audience an insight into his career from starting in his father’s barber shop to taking up a career in ladies hairdressing, whilst at the same time managing to play semi-professional football and growing the business. After attending the British Hairdressing Awards he decided his goal was to win an award and fast forward several years, Bruno is now in the Hall of Fame and the Marc Antoni trophy cabinet is full of awards and accolades. Bruno is a past president of the Fellowship For British Hairdressing and each year travels with the Marc Antoni team to China to present to tens of thousands of hairdressers and on a recent trip he was awarded the highest accolade in Chinese hairdressing – President of the World Hairdressing Congress in China. Passionate about the industry, there is nothing Bruno likes nothing more than to share his skills and expertise with others – he believes ‘if you don’t share you won’t grow.’
Education plays a large part of the services Alan Howard provide to the JOICO Select Accounts and it was now time to introduce the new courses for 2020 and celebrate the achievements of salons and individuals who have excelled throughout 2019. Assistant Head of Education Lorraine Matic provided a review of the education provided and the stand out moments of 2019 and introduced the courses for 2020 including the second JOICO Colour Genius Programme.
The class of 2019 Colour Genius Programme were invited on stage to give an insightful look into what they had taken away from the programme. The moment many salons had been waiting for had arrived – the announcement of the Alan Howard JOICO Select Accounts Awards –
